BUDAPEST GYPSY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ‘100 VIOLINS’ AT BARVIKHA LUXURY VILLAGE

‘100 Violins’ is one of the world’s largest gypsy symphony orchestras. It was founded in 1985 after the death of Sandor Jaroka, the famous Hungarian soloist and the Prima. At his funeral, the community and best Hungarian musician were gathered. To show their respect and sorrow to the Prima, musicians began to play. That is how the group was born, and the Orchestra became phenomenally famous receiving ovations from Europe and all around the world. ‘100 violins’ performs without music notation sheets and a conductor in its conventional sense of the word because of the Orchestra is conducted by soloist primas alternating each other.

Traditional Hungarian costumes add unique colours and atmosphere to the show. Not only 50 violins but also 10 violas, 10 cellos, 11 basses, 6 cymbals and 10 clarinets. Musical critics refer to the Orchestra as ‘100 Paganinis’ and western journalists believe that ‘Liszt and Paganini would be admired. There is no other symphony orchestra in the world that performs so intense, masterly and full of powerful sounding’.
